There's a small courtyard in my neighbourhood called Moonlight Courtyard that I go to whenever I need to unwind. It's tucked away behind the old bakery on Cedar Lane, so you only find it if you know where to look. The space is really simple — a few benches, a shallow koi pond, and strings of soft amber lanterns hanging from the eaves. In the evening, the lanterns give off a warm, gentle glow and the hum of the city feels distant. What I usually do there is sit with a cup of tea and a paperback, although sometimes I just close my eyes and listen to the water. If it's raining lightly, a gentle, steady drizzle adds a kind of rhythm that makes everything feel calmer. The courtyard isn't crowded; there are often just one or two other people and the owner, Mira, who keeps it tidy. I prefer relaxing there because it helps me disconnect without having to go far. I don't need to plan a trip or spend money — I can walk over in ten minutes. More importantly, the place has a kind of calm that sticks with me; when I leave, I can go back to my evening with clearer thoughts. In short, Moonlight Courtyard is simple but effective — it lets me sit back and let my mind wander, which is exactly what I need after a busy day.
