Strategy: True / False / Not Given

  1. 1True: the text says the same thing in other words.
  2. 2False: the text says the opposite.
  3. 3Not Given: the text doesn't say — don't use your own knowledge.

Strategy: Completion

  1. 1Check the word limit — going over it is marked wrong.
  2. 2Predict the type of word (number, noun, adjective) before you look.
  3. 3Copy spelling exactly from the text or recording.

Reading tips

  • Spend about 20 minutes per passage; move on if you're stuck.
  • Skim the passage first, then scan for each answer.
  • Paraphrase is everything — the question rarely uses the passage's words.
